Timeline: September 2020.

After 30 years in Seattle + 14 years in Alaska before that, it was time for some sunshine.  With both daughters both launched out of the nest, my husband and I headed south to Carpinteria, CA in Santa Barbara County.  

My head continues to spin with the lifestyle whiplash that comes with our little cottage in the middle of an avocado field.   Our space expands considerably thanks to our outside areas (tub anyone?) and the year-round easy weather.  Still, it's been an education and adjustment to fit in this 1-bedroom/1-bath space.  With some delicate communication skills, we're still married! 

We are so grateful for this new nest and safe harbor during the pandemic.  Elizabeth Allgaier Art has been inspired by this gorgeous place and my quest to find a new creative outlet.  

My art is also informed by a lifelong devotion to design and craft, bringing a sensibility shaped by interior design and curated aesthetics into the studio.

As a multidisciplinary professional, I find creative outlets occur in many different and evolving ways, such as:

• 30 years as an owner of an interior design practice  to help client thoughtfully transform residentail and commercial interiors. I am skilled at guiding clients from concept through realization with attention to color, composition, and functional living.

• Creator and owner of a vintage and modern home accessories e-commerce site, Considered Shop

• Avid needlepointer

• Adjunct instructor in Santa Barbara City College's Interior Design program, teaching 17 weeks, 3-hour lectures for the following classes:

  • Historical Furniture

  • Kitchen & Bath Design

  • Business Practices for Designers

No two days are ever the same!
